MALA ° EXTRAIT DE PARFUM

Mala has been my daily signature for two years now, and it still draws me in every time I spray it on. Delicate and long-lasting, it’s deep, sweet, floral, and sensuous. What gets me every time is how it opens: saffron with rose essence underneath, warm and a little smoky, like stepping into a temple. As it settles, marigold attar and carnation essence emerge alongside rose maroc and cardamom, all wrapped like a garland of the most delicious florals. The scent lasts all day that lingers with a delicacy.

There’s a reason it’s become my go-to: it’s grounding, feminine, and sensuous. It’s rare to find a fragrance you never tire of, one that simply complements you. Mala is that fragrance for me.

This scent is so deep and delightful. Delicious saffron and a rose that’s intense and drying.

I chose this as one of the perfumes in the Scent Sextet sampler, based on the notes and description. On my skin, it smells like Off! bug spray, which is an extremely nostalgic (and headache-inducing) smell for me. There is also a hint of dill pickle potato chips?? I'm glad I only got the sample size because even though it takes me back to childhood, I cannot imagine wearing this daily. I am quite sad I didn't experience the notes and lovely emotions this perfume brings to other reviewers! I don't love to use a star rating system and never dock stars based on my personal opinion/experience of something - and it's obvious based on other reviews that it is a well-loved scent - so I will leave it at 5 stars. But it's a no for me!

I grew up Hare Krishna in the US and I have this childhood memory of sitting on the temple floor on top of sheets piled high with carnations and marigolds learning from the older women how to string them together to make garlands for the deities. When I smelled Mala that EXACT sense memory came rushing back! The incense-y temple garland accord is SO spot on it's really incredible. On my skin the saffron and the florals pull a little sweet but the nag champa and henna gives grounds it and gives it a more smokey and earthy quality. I knew as soon as I smelled the sample that I would need a full bottle. I plan to wear it on warm summer nights or anytime I need to be transported to somewhere sacred. This is a really special one 🪡🌼🏵️🌼🧵

This was my first full bottle purchase from Studio Tanais. It is a beautiful rose with saffron and incense. Its mysterious and sensual while staying elegant.
